Running around

I can be pretty good at doing this BUT Dominique wrote the book on it. We left the house about 8:30 and the first stop was DHL to drop a return off destined for Amazon. That was quick so we headed over to Pepe guitar. Irving was open as promised and we left the Norte ax for an action adjustment and new strings. We were told it would be ready by 1pm. From there we walked to Sam's for a mega buy, always the case for the first one after we arrive.

That did not disappoint and liquid was dominant in the purchase category ... one being cloudy and white, the other sort of opaque and red. We cabbed it back to nuestra casa and noshed some sustenance as we put all the crap away. That dear Siggi happened to appear as we arrived in our cab and helped us transport the crap to B2.

About 12:30 we were still putzing stuff away and I suggested I could go get the git myself to spare Dominique's having to go out again. About 40 minutes later and 220 pesos lighter, I had cabbed it to, paid the bill, and cabbed back home.

On the agenda for later is a trip to Arcadia, a favourite Friday afternoon hangout for many gringos. Then we hope to find the famous hangaber (yes that is the correct spelling according to me kids when they were very young) vendor by the basketball court in centro.

While cabbing it to and from the guitar store, I managed to have a conversation in Spanish with the driver. I missed a few things he said very quickly but managed to hold my own. I think at least.

Off to Arcadia as planned. Nice walk as usual and we saw a few of our restaurant-owner buddies along the way. Arcadia ... still is the best, at least for us. Dominique saw Wanda and John crossing the sidewalk in front of us so kidnapped them and brought them back to the table. We reminisced as she has known this couple for 18 years. A while later we turfed our plans to go to the hamburger guy and toddle off to a pizza place with them. We have walked past that place many times but never gone in. We usually walk by there during the day when it is not open.

Dinner was fab and we walked back with them then up the "not so tough hill." The one on calle Adelita is huge and I am not ready yet on day 4 to try it out.

When I played my git for a while after bringing it home, the strings did not look like they had been changed. The biggest had what looked like a tarnish perhaps caused by perspiration from my fingers. Indeed they were not new! I spoke to Irving from the guitar store and will take the ax in tomorrow for new strings.

Dominique is playing bridge in the morning with Patsy, aware that the game will start at 7:30 here since we are two hours behind Ottawa. After the game we will get the guitar restrung then do some more errands.
