Getting better all the time
How would they have known? A song from the 60s predicting my lady's recovery from her fall. We did breakfast at Adelitas café to start a pretty laid back day. Upon our return, the feverish prep for tonight's chicken dinner began. At one point, Dominique was in the cupboard under the sink and noticed water pooling on the floor inside the structure. Oh my!
There was a steady drip, blossoming into a stream when the tap was on. She turned off the tap and we summoned Siggy who was kind enough to drop in and have a look. Turned out the snake that is attached to the spout of the faucet to allow bringing the spout down, was suffering fatigue from metal on metal contact over the last 6 years since the place was finished. In Mexico, as it turns out, the snake is made from a flexible metal tube unlike how it is done at home ... from a tightly woven synthetic material that is waterproof naturally.
The apparatus that allows for the extending of the spout needs replacing. Siggy tried a hardware store that was open, but discovered the only place that had this sort of thing was the biggie that is not open until tomorrow.
We rearranged stuff in the kitchen and all of a sudden, the water started to cascade down into the cupboard again. We must have nudged the tap on our way by when doing something else. I then shut off the feeds to the sink, something I should have thought of earlier.
The mopping up of that mess was time consuming as the water trickled into the cavity where one of the glass doors slides. End result was favourable, and we left the fan blowing on the open cabinet to assist the water evaporation. Our new perota cabinet ... I placed it on a pair of PVC pipes so any water that may have been absorbed into its underside could vaporize.
Dinner was fab, as usual, and we did the dishes in the bathroom off the second bedroom. Lynn commented how the fan was a good idea. I got my (what I refer to as) Lynn papers today ... his approval of how I had the new cabinet on PVC pipes serving as rollers was a good idea, according to Lynn. He is such an engineer-type in so many genres of house maintenance that sanctioning of that setup was enough for certification.
Siggy will get the part we need for the sink in the morning. Lynn suggested putting some grease on the snake to reduce the friction every time the spout is extended/pulled further into the sink.
