Laid back Thursday
We headed out about 11am for breakfast and a trek to Soriana. We passed by El Duke fish and chips place and noticed some upgrades in the off-season. They have set up a suite of tables and chairs in their inner courtyard. The owner was busy as we surveyed the setup of homemade furniture. Looking good. We plan to head over there mid-afternoon Saturday.
We then stopped at an oasis a few blocks away called Arborel for lunch. It's a spot we stumbled into on a walk back from Soriana a year or two ago. Lots of shade and lots of people. It always seems to be busy there, which they should be based on the sustenance and ambience, not to mention the prices.
Then it was off to Mega (aka Soriana) for a few supplies. The renos they are doing are closer to completion and there is not a plethora of collapsed cardboard boxes blotting drips from the ceiling anymore. They are not there yet, but the look is apparently being changed to look more upscale like many of their other locations.
Back home, we mainly hid from the humdidity and Dominique got me to send out a draft of the most recent RKK condo board meeting minutes for perusal by the attendees. I often wonder at our condo in Ottawa if any board members actually read these draft distributions. Were I to be responsible for taking minutes somewhere, I have always wanted to put something in them that is totally off topic to see if they are being read at all. Something like ... The Texas Rangers just won the World Series. It's a 50/50 chance anyone with catch/comment on it.
A few weeks ago I stumbled into a British TV series called Murder City. What caught my eye was the actors who lead the episodes ... Kris Marshall and Amanda Donohue. The former was one of a handful of stars of the hugely successful limey offering called Death in Paradise. The script writers for this show need a medal. There are twists, twists, and a lot of twists imbedded in the story. Then the relationship between the lead characters, as always in a Brit show, is entertaining it itself. Well done and another Brit TV show added to our repertoire.
Dominique is still sore and hesitant when we walk together. I hold her hand, as we do most of the time, but now this is more to assist her steadying herself. In comparison to normal times where our holding each other's hands is a manifestation of our giving one another a message ... You are f_____g awesome!
We went down to the almost end of Adelita near the small cemetery, hoping to score some food and watch the end of the Days of the Dead festivities music/dance extravaganza. We were a little early, so decided to walk further down calle Adelita for a drink. The plan was to come back later and catch the show. We ran into Lynn at Zihua Bay and invited ourselves to sit with him. We decided to order dinner and, as usual, the food was scrumptious. This place is our favourite along the strip, though Chendo's just moved there from somewhere else in Zihua so it is on opur short list. While at Zihua Bay, we could here music from Chendo's and I finally figure out it was José Louis Cobo. I went over and said hello. We will go to his music club hopefully at least once while in Zihua this season.
After dinner, we walked a while then Lynn whistled for a cab at the stand by where Rufo's restaurant lives. Nobody on the stand figured out we were looking for a cab for a handful of whistles. His whistling is the kind we hear at sporting events above the crowd noise. We cabbed hom, watched an episode of Murder City, and crashed.
