Relaxing day

Dominique woke again today feeling different with her lower back. It was the first day that she felt a marked improvement. You could tell by the way she was walking. It was muggy all day. We did stuff around the house and she populated our new cabinet that replaced the only item in the house not made from some/all perota termite-resistant word..

Lynn joined us for a scrumptious chicken dinner served up by none other that Dominique (mainly) and me. It was perfectly cooked thanks to her prowess and the functionality of our air fryer. At one point she asked me to take the meat thermometer out of the plastic container in the second drawer beside the sink. I did just that and measured the temperature inside the bird. It showed 146° not the desired 165°. She came over to the island and informed me that I was using the wrong thermometer. We also have a newer round one. We decided the older one (that was where she told me) was defective. After mentioning I simply retrieved from where I was told, Lynn had a look on his face to remember. This look was designed to confirm that, so many times, I cannot do anything right ... a feeling his lady (Ranae) gets often as well.

We consulted Lynn on a few things around the house:

  • The left sliding door in the living room ... the handle on the glass does not clear the frame of the sliding screen door. One has to pull the screen door towards one's self to allow it to clear. We have already had a piece of trim fall off the screen door due to this tension we put on it that allows the handle to clear. We agreed that replacing the inner handle with a bolt, the distance between the end of the bolt and the screen door would drop by about 50%. We will try with a bolt ... great idea,
  • The two sliding doors in the bedroom have some fluffy weatherstripping on the close end of their outside frame. When the doors are opened fully, that weatherstripping meets a like material on the door frame, thereby providing a barrier provided by the two of them keeps bugs from sneaking in through the opening. This ⅛ inch opening is sealed as the strips meet. When the weather cools off, we leave the doors slightly open. The opening would not allow a person to pass through due to its size. We place PVC pipes in the trough of the sliders to not allow the doors to open more than they are. This fix will necessitate the pros. We would get a pro yo double up the weatherstripping on the door frame which would provide small creature protection regardless of how much the doors were open.
We have another leftover issue from some work we had done last winter. The sliding doors on the closet in the second bedroom were hung backwards ... the inside door on the outside and vice versa. Therefore the doors do not slide easily. Again, a job for the pros.
