Say what?
Yet another day on, as yet unknown, day of the week. I thought it was Saturday until I realized my mistake. This happens to me all the time. Dominique is going to Sori's with Lynn and Ranae, As much as we would be wise to avoid shopping from a few days before Xmas, c'est la vie. We have a few errands to run after bridge downtown. We need Oxyclean as well as some vegetables to tide us over until after Boxing Day. We will also hot the hardware store in pursuit of silicone sealer and painter's tape.
Standard fare for a Friday late afternoon ... Arcadia with friends then dinner out somewhere. I am enjoying our recently acquired streaming service when I can now watch live TV. I have watched the Senators last few games and have two observations about their abysmal play:
- You cannot score goals when the puck is in your end most of the game
- The game is a full 3 periods long, not just 1½
- Pedal to the metal is the only way you are going to turn things around
At least they did a better job last night against the Avalanche with number 3. Okay ... three observations ... must be the exchange rate.
As planned, we headed out to centro shortly after 10:30. First stop was the market for broccoli, red pepper, and mushrooms. Dominique had a major find at Sori's today ... nothing other than brussel sprouts. She has not seen them anywhere for a very long time. Next stop was the hardware store where we bought some silicone sealant, painter tape, and a few rolls of electrician's tape. Final place was Disedu, the cleaning store, where she cored 4 bottles of Oxyclean. That will keep her on cloud nine for some time. We were so thankful that Ranae had been there and alerted Dominique to their presence.
The "event" at Arcadia was the usual ... lots of chit chat and beverages. Maxine and Ralph joined us. I think I have met them before and they are from Brooks Alberta. For some reason I remember the name of that berg and have for years. The Rahns and Abbellards split off from the rest and we headed off to PorteƱa for a bite. Always impresses us, as we have been there many times, Dominique remembering they may have been open for as long as 60 years or more. She had pasta and I fajitas. I asked if I could get a mix of chicken and beef but the server returned with a no. We stopped at Rufo's to listen to some wonderful music. Rufo was tinkling away on the guitar for some time and there was a guitar player steadily providing background music tracks and melodic improvisation of his own.
Even more remarkable than the music was the fact that Lynn and Ranae also stayed to listen. We were home by about 9pm, watched episodes of 6 Feet Under then M.A.S.H. The verdict ... it was a fitting wrapup to a lovely day con mi chica.
