Sunny days, sunny sunny days

A familiar ditty from my/our past. What with the heavy rain I mention in a previous post, I would assume the storms have dissipated for now. We were up at a reasonable hour with plans to make a few stops downtown. First was related to sa guy's favourite location ... his stomach. We ran into Lynn at Doña Licha's and we both had different chilaquille offerings. Yummy.

We then headed off to Dr. Grayeb's office to discuss flu shots. EWe thought we needed to get a prescription from him, go to a pharmacy to obtain the goods, then return to him for the shot. As it turns out, there are a few locations only in Zihua where we can get the goods, and if we go to IMS, the public hospital, they will provide and administer the shot.

I am sitting on our balcony attending the board meeting from our condo in Ottawa. The audio and video are perfect on Zoom, believing the vendor systematically favours paid customers rather than serving the freebie clients with the best bandwith.

I deliberately call into offsite meetings well before they start. That way if I have any problems with audio I can get to the bottom of them before the meeting starts, not having to have all attendees twiddle their thumbs.

The board meeting was OK but lasted a bit long. Ranae Rahn dropped down for a visit, being abandoned by Lynn so he could hit the pool. Dominique and Ranae w(h)ined together and caught up on what has been going on since they last were face-to-face in March of this year.

I had a plan to fix a problem we have with one of our Amazon Fire Sticks. It was not allowing us to watch anything on our Video On Demand playlist. When we selected an episode it just spun forever. I tried another stick to see if it was the stick iteself that was misbehaving or the internet. Since we could stream from all other applications on the other stick, I assumed it was the original stick that was messed up. It could also be the software we use for some streaming called Tivimate Pro. Turns out the other stick worked fine. We watched MASH last night on the other stick ... that is the TV series. It is as ridiculous as it was the 40 years ot so ago that it first hit the box. So there were 2 ways to go for the problematic stick fix:

  1. Set it back to factory settings, which basically requires about 3½ hours worth of work to get it back to where it was before it started acting up yesterday
  2. Uninstall TiviMate and reinstall, then rebuild our playlists, taking a mere 2 hours
The problem with both approaches is we lose ALL our playlists I have painstakingly set up for both live tv and video on demand. I thought I'd try the shorter route first. I did a backup of the stick, then uninstalled and reinstalled TiviMate. I then restored the backup, hoping the stick would resemble 100% what it looked like before. Fat chance! Nothing came back, after which I realized this is the expected outcome since the stick backup only probably does its settings.

So I recreated two playlists then was so pleased with myself that I could now restore from my recent backup and the stick would indeed resemble what it was before screwing up. Fat chance ... the backup wiped the playlists that I had made so the time I took to recreate them was WASTED!

I recreated the playlists and and the stick was behaving itself again. I will recreate the contents of the main playlists as we decide to watch a show/movie that we put on our favourites list. And, by the way, using approach #2 from above did not take me 2 hours ... more like close to 3½ hours which pleased me as it saved me 0 HOURS over using approach #1.

We chowed down on my baby's pasta for dinner. She is such a dear and we both love all the things we do for each other. She does not eat raw tomatoes as they do not agree with her BUT she kindly cuts up some for me and places them in a dish for me to put in my salad. When I first discovered this I wondered how an Italian broad could not like tomattoes, at which point she reminded me raw only. It's ironic because Dale, the Mother of my children felt the same way. Her and I were together (physically) from 1978 to 1990 BUT logically for a lifetime due to our having had four cherubs together.

We watched a smorgasbord of shows on TV tonight ... first was M.A.S.H then an episode of the Looney Tunes (aka 6 Feet Under). That must have been a very controversial, in a way, show back in 2001 when it premiered. I have always found it ironic how Michael C. Hall plays an undertaker in this show then a serial killer in the next. Deadly coincidence, no?

He empezado a practicar leer historias pequeñas por mejorar my comprensión.

Me diria ...

<== Ahora, en inglés ...
I started practicing reading small stories to improve my understanding. There are some sites on the internet where I can read something so I can answer five questions. I need to read each text a few times before testing the questions.

I still know that when learning Spanish, vocabulary and grammatics are very important but pronunciation is more important than these two. The more I read Spanish, the better I can understand when someone reads the stories, even quickly! The way it seems to me that more than a word sound like just a word.

For example:

I would say ... Yes, in the winter, we are in Mexico while when Spanish speakers say the same phrase, I think they just said ... Syenel inviernsen stamoseh Mehco. That situation is the most difficult with the gringos while trying to learn Spanish. ==>
