Almost ½ way

I have counted out a number of times the days we have been here and, therefore, the number if days left. We got Mexico October 9, so:

  • October 9-31 (inclusive) = 23
  • November 1-30 (inclusive) = 30
  • December 1-31 (inclusive) = 31
  • January 1-10 (inclusive) = 10
Thus, we have gobble dup 94 of our 189 days here this winter. Thus at noon today, we have use dup 50% of our time in Z. Just thought all readers would like to know.

This being a no-bridge day, we went down to Margarita's restaurant to meet Bernie and Patsy for 9:30am. When we got there they were waiting for their bill. We must have got our wires crossed as they thought the plan was for them to call us when they were ready. The restaurant was very busy so we took their table when they were all done. We met up with them when we finished our breakfast.

Off to Soriana we went, a nice walk on the opposite side of the canal from the paved pathway as there is more shade their until close to 11am most days. Soris was the usual and there were a few cashes open but the lineups were ridiculous. Soris claims they cannot find cashiers BUT the true story is they cannot find cashiers because they are paying crap! We cannot wait until the new bodega opens and realizes this, ending up taking a noticeable percentage of Soris' business away.

We did not get a lot, so decided to walk back rather than take a cab. We walked with P&B to Plaza Kioto then split up. We went to Pepe Guitar store to check out an alternative strap for my gits. We cabbed home. I spent the better part of the time back here getting ready for tomorrow's gig at Zihua Bay.

I am just about through the second run at the two sets I will do. I am so pleased that I had the smarts to work with positioning the mic stand, amp, and my computer stand such that I hardly need to turn my head to read my music during a song. This is our final list, which may be added to when the time comes to finalize with my girl:

  • Amp
  • Capo
  • Epiphone electric git
  • Long music stand weight loader
  • Mac Air
  • Mac Air power cord
  • Mic stand
  • Music stand
  • Patch cord
  • Power strip
  • Shure mic with cord
  • Si mi querida ball cap
  • Stand for bocina
  • Tip jar with message about my not keeping tips (if any)
  • Wear long pants / cotton shirt / pink running shoes / Panama
  • Wireless sender and transmitter fully charged

The cotton shirt may turn into a SailFest tee or golf shirt ... hopefully the former. Later today we will walk down to Zihua Bay to listen to the music, check out the Wednesday act's setup so we know what we have for tomorrow and, oh ya, have some of their avocado pie. I told Dominique that I am getting my own order of pie and IF a fork appears anywhere close to my plate, her hand will be severed by a guillotine. Often I order something and she says "I only want a small bite!" Ya, but she wants 5 of them.

I am not complaining, just stating the facts, your Honour. This reminds me of one of my quips where I ask someone else What are the 3 words every guy is dying to hear from his lady? The stock answer is I love you. The real answer is Honey, I'm done which leads to his getting 78% of a dish they were going to split rather than the 50% planned for. When we go to Feelinas in Ottawa, I hear those magic words from by D while we are chowing down on the nachos.

Now that we have reached the halfway mark of our stay hear 23-24, let me list my top 5 BEST events of the stay, in descending order by strategicality (is that a word ... it is now!):

We have the pleasure of complementing each other in so many ways ... of which one is now she is so GREAT with high tech and I am the  storage/putzing master. Or maybe it's the other way around. So the apparatus on the top of a spire of steeple that measures the wind speed ... suppose its measurement was not exactly correct ... apparati that behave that way could be called very close veins. Do boom boom chi! Or the person who manages to collapse and not make much noise on the way down ... called a faint feint.

<== Ahora, en inglés ...
I have many opportunities to practice speaking Spanish and I like that. When we use a taxi, we often talk to the driver about things about Zihua and more. This year, I have the time to try more advanced expressions. I enjoy having conversations with Spanish speakers in Zihua. ==>

So we had a lovely leftovers dinner. We headed out about 6:30 to Zihua Bay as planned. We were surprised that the singer is on the canal side of the street. It was a busy night for Rebe and the entertainer was great ... Ken Newman who we will see at GuitarFest. Good for him. We had some drinks and I had avocado pie with a bot of ice cream. Dominique did not want any so my renting the guillotine WAS A WASTE OF MONEY. We got the lay of the land in prep for my gig tomorrow. Rebe mentioned that there is a birfday event tomorrow at the restaurant whilr I am playing there. Should be interesting ...
