Back on the road again
We have plans to head to Soris after bridge and her 11 o'clock meeting with a few colleagues around here. We received news yesterday that a woman named Patricia has We accepted the offer to be our new administrator, starting February 1.
The walk to Soris was great since the demise of that wretched humdidity. They used to have a dedicated gringo section before the massive reno they have done. We still cannot find it. We got a modest load of grocs and cabbed it home. We did a lot of nothing then quaffed chicken quarters with a wonderful salad courtesy of mi chica. We headed down to the main beach about 6:45 to hear Hector and Angel who we have seen a number of times in Zihua.
On the way down I dropped off two brochures about Gringo Mic which is a handle I invented a few years ago. The first went to Rufo, but I do not think he will be interested in what I have to offer. The second was at Zihua Bay. We chatted with the owner. We were in the midst of the first set at Daniel's where the duo was playing, and I got a WhatsApp from Zihua Bay saying the owner is interested in my singing there. We had about a half dozen messages back and forth. Tada ... next Thursday at 7pm, I will be entertaining at Zihua Bay.
I have a lot to do in prep for that gig ...
- Obtain a dual input amplifier, one for guitar and one for a mic
- Obtain a microphone and stand
- Make up 2 sets of about 45 minutes each, which requires about 20 songs each. Naturally these are estimates but best to overestimate the number of songs rather than fall into what should I do next mode
- Edit my songbook and concoct a series of hyperlinks that take me from
- the top of the document to a song
- the end of the song that positions me back at the location of the previous song
My biggest fan, aka mi chica, is as pumped as I am about this opportunity. On the walk back part way to our condo, we had a quick chat with Rebe, the owner of Zihua Bay, and I used a line from a Bogart movie ... eso podria el comenzio de algo grande (this could be the start of something big).
