Hungry bridge players
The pursuit of masterpoints (MPs) by our club's bridge community carries on. The strain of bridge we play is competitive and the governing body for North America gives out rewards called masterpoints. This week all our games rewarded 150% the amount of points to the players who finished towards/at the top of the heap. When I play a game, I am interested in having a food time but when I get some MPs, I am pleased. A lot of our players are in the same boat, but many are always in it for the MPs and beat themselves up when they come out empty handed. It's hard for some people to remember that bridge is just a game.
The second game we are supposed to be running at 12:30 Ottawa time will probably be cancelled due to insufficient registration. It did not go last week either. We will not be scheduling one for this time slot any more. We also have a new game scheduled for Sunday morning but it's probably not going to fly either. We are close to four years in to virtual bridge and people have their loyalties and favourite clubs, so starting a new initiative will more than likely fail.
Not sure what we will do this afternoon, with my finding myself free as of ½ hour from now. We will head down to Zihua bay by cab, leaving here about 5:30. Dominique made me a bacon and tomato sammich for breakfast ... what a treat. Speaking of treats, February 7 this year makes it five years since she and I hooked up on Zoosk. We met in person on April 9, 2019, after having communicated on video chats and a few other mechanisms for the first two months. When I first arrived at her place that day, we both caught site of each other and breathed a sigh of relief. We were pretty sure each one of us had represented ourself properly on the dating site, but the initial viewing was still comforting.
I am more than ready for my gig tonight. Something I have been paying attention to is the affect turning my head has on the vocals. Once muy mouth leaves the spot directly in front of the mic, the vocals' volume goes down and the lyrics sound like the following:
Thus, and I trained myself to do this in bands, but that was decades ago, I need to do something different. Notice on the left, when neck turns and shoulders stay at rest, the lyrics sound like above. But when the shoulders turn and the neck compensates with its own bit of rotation, the lips stay in the same place and the voice volume does not change. The compensation by the next involves some tilt and some twist:
