Bomberos
We got wind of a street party late this afternoon at the bomberos, raising money for the paramedic and firefighting work they do. As Dominique mentioned this has not happened for a few years reportedly since the city stopped issuing the permit. Should be interesting to see the scale of the party which could turn out to be a shadow of its former intensity. As to why the city would deny a permit for an essential service is beyond comprehension.
We have just about completed the transition of our income tax preparers. Dominique used to use a "small firm" that got acquired by a giant afew years back. Her preparation bill since the takeover has been north of $700. I used a firm called Deltax for one year. They did a great job but after the first filing (2022) they have gone silent. No responses whatsoever to ny last two emails and one voice message on my cell. I hope someone I know is looking for an opinion of this firm. My feedback will be ... run, fast, far away.
I upgraded my Dropbox account so that I could password protect a folder to allow Sue at Ottawa Tax Services to self-serve herself to supporting documentation. Sue and I have had a plethora of emails back and forth and I think she now has access to all she needs for when our turn comes up in the queue to do the needful for CRA.
I made open-faced grilled cheese for us this morning. We are wild about one of the most popular cheeses here called manchego. Drizzled over a piece of sourdough toast is a treat. She ate one whole piece of bread which normally for her would amount to two days worth of feed.
I am playing this week at Zihua Bay on Thursday evening then will take a week off while GuitarFest is on. The week of Easter, I will play Monday rather than Thursday as that day of the week is when the religious celebration ramps up towards Good Friday and Easter Sunday. There is a good chance the attendance will drop as late March/early April arrive as the gringo numbers in Zihua will dwindle big time.
We left for our errands about 11:15 when the cleaners arrived. Our first stop, naturally, was Cafécito for cold coffees and carrot cake. Love is sharing the whipped cream and chocolate chips on one's frappuchino with su chica. We then hit Zapatos where they sell colourful handmade weaved items. We have bought there before many times. We got a few coasters that will end up with Sue and Wayne when we go to Comox. We also bought a twin bed bedspread to put on the yellow suede-like chair in the second bedroom. I sit there a lot when watching TV and my sweat glands emit something that can stain the material wherever I am sitting.
