Monday, Monday
Michael and Gail are off to Doña Licha for breakfast with David and Javier. We did not go as they need some time together to discuss some business ventures the four of them are involved in.
We had a lovely time visiting at Marianna's for a while yesterday evening. She had prepared devilled eggs, guacamole, and cheese and crackers. We sat on the large balcony outside her place and chatted for a few hours. She showed us a Cartrina doll she made for a friend and it was a sight to behold. Catrina dolls are unique to Mexico and commemorate, alongside the Days of the Dead, loved ones who have passed on. See here for some background.
Michael and Gail departed about 8:45pm and we helped Marianna clean up then walked down the hill to the Bomberos rincon. A rincon literally means many things, including nook. We see some café's using this term all over Zihua. They were perched in the corner sipping Modela beer and waiting for an order of a rib eye to share. We ordered one as well. About 25 minutes later, they both arrived and we chowed down ... the two of us until it was all gone and M&G most of their order.
We bought some Bomberos t-shirts and asked when/if they may have some XLs. We were told to check back with then in a few weeks. We received some advice from the server about learning more and more Spanish. He did mention soap operas which is something Dominique has surfed many times in the past. I told them I have learned some songs in Spanish and that has helped with my progress. I mentioned some artists whose material I do, including Roberto Carlos and Juan Gabriel. I also mentioned that I do La Vida Loca and the woman in the kitchen loved that. So I recited some of the lyrics from the song and her enthusiasm went sky high due to the nature of the song's lyrics.
