Another Zihua day/night
We enjoyed the evening out at Zihua Bay. I had made meat loaf which was a big hit with my chica as always. The humdidity was high yesterday, unlike most recent weeks. The crowd at Zihua Bay was sparse with the only table persistent throughout the evening was Dominique and friends Donny and Dianna. We will more than likely be seeing them again this afternoon at our standard Friday affair. We may end up at Tata's so we can hang. I just sent her an email qupping ... tata for now and maybe Tata later.
My chica is making breakfast and I am not sure what else we will be up to today. I may get a haircut today, with the down side (for others in Zihua) that it is close to Disude cleaning store. That in itself is not a big deal but, if they have any Oxyclean, they won't have any left when we leave the store.
We had a major kerfuffle with Wise money transfer yesterday. Dominique signed up with then 10 or so days ago and did a piddly transfer to test drive the engine. That went through no problem in about 2-3 days. Then she tried a more substantial amount and all h__l broke loose.
Due to the size of this second transfer, Wise needed to get some verification of who she is by our uploading a photo of the address page on her passport. We also sent a selfie. We uploaded both and were told they were having difficulty validating her data due to a discepancy between the date of birth on her passport and what Wise had on file. We checked her details on their website and found that she was born on June 10 1970. Say what? How did that happen? We responded to one of their bazillion emails and informed them of the correct date. How it got to be the 1970 date is a mystery to all. There were emails after emails for a while. As of this morning, the transfer has been sent and the date of birth fixed on their site.
As it turns out, when a transfer is in progress, one cannot make any changes to one's personal info on their site. We were informed the money could take 2-3 business days to show up in her Intercam account. To say my chica's was stressed out about the mess and volume of emails would be an understatement. Anyhew ... all is well.
As we approach our last three weeks here, the fervour of activity getting the place ready is about to commence. We will be having a chat with Patricia who takes over as RKK Administrator on her own April 1. Hugo has worked alongside her since February 1 to assist with the transition. We have already divested ourselves of some "crap" that we no longer need and there is more to go.
Early next week we will contact my cousins Stephen and Barbara who have been renting in Ajijic for many years. Our chat with them will hopefully give us even more insight into living there. Based on the chat we had with Jan and John a few weeks ago, we are leaning towards Chapala but still considering Ajijic. Chapala's being more ethnic also translates into cheaper than Ajijic. We discovered The Lake Chapala Society (see here) as per the chat with J&J and watched a tour on YouTube as per this video. Looks like our cup of tea. The memberships run about $100 USD per year which soumd like a paltry sum compared to the benefits of signing up.
