Wednesday day off

From bridge for me that is. We readied the place for the cleaners and left as soon as they arrived. We walked to Jaguar Negro to buy some bread then off to Sam's club. It was close to empty there, for a change, so we breezed through the cash. We cabbed it home with all our crap. The cleaners finished about 90 minutes after they arrived as there was Juanita and another working together.

We are heading out for Chinese food about 4pm. We will return to the place we were at a few months ago that we found fabulous. I found a shopping bag on our bed with some plastic containers inside. I was surprised and thought Dominique was giving some away to Sigi. Giving away any kind of container is not part of her repertoire. She mentioned they were for carting leftovers home. We are going early so that it will be light enough to walk home. The last time we were there we had to cab home as it was dark.

I contacted an agent in Ajijic about some rentals there. We had a dialogue on WhatsApp and I followed up with a detailed email about what we are looking for. I look forward to her response.

I have noticed that our Tuesday morning game attendance has bee dwindling. These game we run are restricted to a player who has earned up to a quantity of 750 points. Anyone with more than this amount cannot play at this game. These points are allocated by the governing body for competitive bridge in North America. Our bridge club has no control over how these points are awarded and to whom. I discussed with Colin as the owner of the club and we will no have a 1000 maximum point game scheduled for 9:15. It is deliberately 15 minutes later in case we do not have enough registrations to start the 750 game at 9am. If this were to happen, some people who wanted to join the cancelled 9am game can play at the 9:15 one instead. As usual, Colin was in total agreement with what I suggested.

Headed out about 4pm to the Casa Chine for dinner. It did not disappoint. We got three orders to ensure we had lots of leftovers for another meal. My girlie ate much more than she usually does. We both know she loves Chinese food. It was more than she usually eats in nine meals. It was nice to have gone early enough that we could walk home. When it's dark out the streets of Zihua can be unfriendly. It is something to watch out for.

We walked by a music store near the restaurant so stopped in to price a ukelele for Sigi's 7-year-old. We found one that was perfect in black, buying it with a case. Once home I looked up tuning on the internot and found a number of sites. I settled on one and tuned the instrument. I was surprised that it took me close to 75 years to even know how one was tuned. I remembered singing My Dog Has Flees which I know is what the four strings say top to bottom when properly tuned. Lo and behold, when I finished that is exactly what it said.

I made a 2-page document in Spanish for Sigi to share with his little boy. It has fingering for all the common major, minor, and seventh chords. I included a circle with all the notes on it as well as some guidance on how to place a finger on a string properly on the fingerboard. I wrote on the document that everything on it will get the little one started. As he progresses, if he is interested, Sigi can ask our administrator to email me with questions. I can always send follow up material the same way. Such fun ...

We are off to Ranae's tomorrow for dinner and lasagne. I asked if another one of her famous dishes would be in the main course. Unfortunately not but her key lime pie will make an appearance for dessert.
