La Epiphone

Up again by 6:30 to run the 7am (9am eastern) bridge game online. I had a dialogue with a support tech at the site where the games are played, called BBO. Until Ottawa goes the back to standard time change on November 5, parts of Mexico no longer switch to daylight savings time. The Mexican states touching the USA still switch, but other states can opt out for now or for good. The state of Guerrero, where we are, opted to not switch anymore, so until that Sunday coming, we are 2 hours behind eastern time. The games listed on BBO show a start time of 8am (here) when they should display 7am. I finally got my point through to BBO but they just did not get it.

So many online support organizations will not admit there has been an error made on their part and the woman I worked with blamed it on my Mac and Windows PC. It's yet another example of professionals (in theory) not being willing to listen to their user community especially when something has not been handled properly. Many support desks online never get back to you and when they do, answer everything but the question(s) you need answering.

Reminds me of experiences I used to have with Oracle's support organization when I was working. Their tickets are handled by different locations ... sometimes Colorado USA, then Japan, then maybe Australia. Sometimes when a ticket moved from one location to another, the first post to the following ticket generated the ensuring ridiculous question from the tech receiving the ticket:

Suppose the ticket just arrived in someone's inbox in Sydney Australia, 3 or 4 days after it was created. The tech's first post to the ticket says Is this problem related to rman backups?. Oh my ... I rest my case.

We toddled off to Pepe Guitar store and gave Alberto the outstanding cash required to finalize my purchase of a 2017 Epiphone. We left the ax there so Irving could restring and clean the neck. We headed off to Cafecito on the main beach and both quaffed a Kahlua lahte. The chit-chat at the café was vibrant and, comme toujours, Dominique and I thrived on each other's company, wit, and senses of humour. I love that lady👄.

We headed back to Pepe's just after 1pm, after waddling through the stalls littering one side of Cinco de Maya. Dominique picked up a purse and I looked for an XL sombrero. So many of these vendors do not have the seichel (Yiddish for many things including initiative) to have a few XL hats on hand even though they rarely sell. Hey, I hardly ever sell something XL so why bother? One vendor started his price for a large at 250 pesos and by the time we were walking out of the stall, it was down to 90!

The balance of the day I fiddled with my new toy, checked out Dominique (a full time hobby of mine) and then I watched game 7 of the American League championship in major league baseball. I was hoping Texas would win since they have been to, but never won the World Series. There is another game today for the national league pennant and a spot in the World Series against Texas. I really have no loyalty for any teams in sports, just pull for those who have never won the ultimate prize (or not for many years). One of my favs was when the Kansas City Royals won the baseball crown a few years ago, the first time in decades, especially since the George Brett years.
