Poco

A bit of a gong show this morning (words of my girlie). She had spoken to both Sigi and Hugo about escalating the treatment she had from Claudia the masseuse. They both had a contact that they could turn her onto by making an appointment. We expected someone, a chiropractor-type, about 9:30am. So the doorbell rings at 9am ...even better. We deliberately chose 9:30 so we would be done by the time Juanita comes to clean the house.

On the other side of the door was Sigi and the anticipated woman booked for 9:30. She gets started with Dominique. Then at 9:30 the doorbell sounds again. Oh my! The booked for 9:30 lady has arrived. As it turns out, Sigi and Hugo both made appointments with separate pros and did touch base with one another. Hugo paid the real 9:30am woman and life went on. Dominique has a few more appointments, with whom I do not remember.

Along the lines of how one gong show often leads to another ... we headed out to Doña Licha for lunch after the bridge game and just as Juanita arrived. This leads into an interesting event with the server there. Dominique wanted a veggie soup with tidbits of chicken floating in the broth. She saw a  sopa (soup) of that nature on their menu, being just what she wanted. For some reason the server ended up needing more of an explanation and showed Dominique the menu. Dominique pointed to what she wanted. Life goes on. We enjoy the unsalted corn chips and their homemade beans. I ordered enchiladas rojos.

8-10 minutes later our food arrives but Dominique's is not sopa but sope. This was also on the menu, being a traditional Mexican dish consisting of a fried masa base with savory toppings. Also known as picadita. The gong begins. Dominique explained to the server the problem and she disappeared apparently to speak with her supervisor. Two ladies come back to the table and about 6-7 minutes later, resolution consisting of the following:

  1. We checked to ensure if the wrong dish is taken away and the right one pending arrival, that the server would not have to pay for the wrong delivery.
  2. At first we were not sure, so Dominique offered to eat the errant dish even though it is not what she thought she ordered.
  3. Supervisor and server offered to replace the dish, ensured us the server would not be out the cost of the sope, and life goes on.
We went to our favourite  café on the main beach. We were just settling in when a couple approached us asking what it was we had ordered. We both had a fancy coffee based delight with whipped cream and chocolate chips adorning the top. By-the-by, this was coincidental with my first dose of birdie poop arriving on my arm. How si___ty. We invited the couple to sit with and enjoyed a good 40 minutes of chit chat. They were on a cruise with a large Norwegian vessel parked in the harbour. The second bird pooperama came onto my shorts a while later.

We then cabbed it back to our abode. Amongst other things, I called MBNA to discuss my locked credit card. I locked it since a vendor in Pennsylvania was charging me monthly for a streaming service I had ordered but thought I cancelled. I asked the agent if a refund coming in from Amazon Mexico would go through if my card were locked ... yes was the answer which pleased me. I also inquired whether my existing card would have to be cancelled if I were to report to their fraud department and was told it depends on the nature of the issue. So my card is still locked and I will try calling MBNA sometime very late or very early my time.

We hit the pool and enjoyed Lynn's company for the better part of an hour. We supped on fish, broccoli, and french fries. I make them in the air fryer. I cut them to the appropriate shape/size, toss them in a covered bowl with a wee bit of olive oil. and 3 cubic metres of garlic. OK, I exaggerate, it was only 2.5. I then air fry them at 400° for 20 or so minutes and they come out a bit crispy and with brown scorching all over them.
