For all the wrong reasons

Ten years after a South African man murdered his wife, he is getting paroled. Two things about something like this annoys me to no end and, in my opinion, is symptomatic of how f____ed up our society is:

1. Why is that reported as news ... offering this person notoriety and the opportunity be a societal known person
2. There are much more newsworthy goings on in this world, why does this event gain the attention of the media?

It's like when a so-called leader of a country makes a statement that is quoted in the media. Comments like what recently came out of France where their "leader" spouted off about ending the war in Gaza/Israel. I categorize this sort of press the same way as I did so many "announcements" during COVID. I refer to that category as the "Mommy, Grandma was quoted in the news again." "Leaders" have the attention of the world media and these reporters fall into the trap of giving them a public forum.

I also just noticed on CNN that a killer has been attacked in prison. The article's headline mentions his f_____g name! Why does this a_____e deserve the attention ... please. It reminds me of the audacity of the entertainment industry to release TV shows about convicted killers and the nuts that were responsible for the behaviour of an aggressor during the second world war.

Bridge game at 8am and Dominique's meeting with the owners is at 10am. One of the topics of discussion relates to a change in the state of Guerrero condo law. She found out about this change sometime during her tenure as president, i.e., March 1 to June this year. Supposedly the change was new as of close to the time she found out. As it turns out, the change amended a section of that law in 2012. Eleven years ago. When the condo we are in was turned over to the owners in 2018, they were provided with a set of condo laws that were anything BUT up-to-date. Oh my ...

She returned from her meeting in good spirits and said it went well. There were 10 of 13 units in our building represented. The three that did not send proxies are part of I5 who have done everything they can since the opening in 2017 to be disruptive, accusatory to the board, and show no interest in proper maintenance of the complex. The AGM in February will be the first opportunity to plan for spending some $$ on solar panel installations that can save the condo about 100,000+ pesos a year for running the common areas. This will be the first AGM where 51% rather than 75% is required vol ALL votes. In the past, at least since 2017, that percentage was impossible as I5 represented 38% of the eligible votes. 

Dominique started preparing for our dinner tonight with Wanda and John. I cut up a number of ingredients following her wishes about how much to cut and what size the pieces should be. The fruits of our works' smells are starting to waft through the condo.

Company arrived about 5:15 and we sat on the deck chatting until Dominique announced dinner was ready. The hors d'oeuvres were well received and John polished off the peanut butter/Ritz cracker offerings first. So as it turned out the weirdo dish I made with those two ingredients turned out to be not so odd. Dinner was great, then back to the balcony for more chit chat. The way the balcony is longer then deeper, John and Dominique were in effect sitting close together as were Wanda me. Not a clue what J&D discussed, but Wanda and I discussed music and talked especially about our favourites from the 50s and 60s. We also covered TV shows and she watched, naturally, pretty much what I did and more.
