Friday on my mind

So I receive an email from DHL telling me a package was undeliverable from Amazon. It suggests I may want to call an 800 number as the package has been left at one of their depots. I am told calling that number will provide me with the location of the depot in question ... speaking of questions, I have a few:

  1. Is this the 12th century ... why can I not get that info on the web?
  2. I am supposed to f____g call an 800 number like in the 1970s?
  3. Why do I need to waste my time on hold with DHL for 9 days?
So, the email also suggests I could sign up for WhatsApp notifications about deliveries. Well, that would be a lot faster that sitting on hold at their 800 number ... not so fast. I sign up and that's that. I am told I am enrolled but there is no further information about the package's location on that site. Oh my ...

So I go to their site where I can track shipments, enter the 10 digit tracking ID and am presented with a long list of where the good have been and when. The final note mentions delivery was attempted. So I see a chat feature and open it. I ask a question and am transferred to a supposed agent. The $64,000,000 question from that person is something like My name is Pedro, thank you for chatting with us today? My response is to pump in the 10-digit number and ask what depot the parcel is sitting at. You ready for that "person's" response:

What may I help you with?

Then the system displays the message ...

End of chat; please start a new session if you have more questions.

Yet again, the true meaning of the acronym W E B ...What Excellent Bu_____t. These vendors hide behind the internOt, pat themselves on the back about their brilliant websites, and do everything possible to annoy their clients. The solution used to be just finding another vendor and ceasing business with the offender ... not so fast buddy. The next vendor will probably treat you WORSE if it too is internOt- based.

The hangout at Tata was the usual ... beer, wine, discussions, accompanied by beer and wine. The 7 of us enjoyed the company for about an hour then we went off to a restaurant we had been at 2 weeks ago with the same gang. Diana and Donnie passed on dinner, leaving the five of us to jostle for position at the table. We all ordered a stuffed chicken breast. Dominique and I split a main course after sharing some hicima tacos, its being a root vegetable native to Mexico. The portions were ample such that we were both happy with the sustenance split.

Dominique made plans with the gang to come over here about 3pm on Wednesday for a dip in the pool, followed by a dutch dinner. We will order pizza as per each couple's preference, sing some songs familiar to all, and perhaps play a board game as well as a card game or two. Wanda and John will pass on the swim portion of the festivities. Wanda and I had a lively discussion on our balcony last Saturday when they were here for dinner and this is a follow-up to that.

Back home we watched another episode of 6 Feet Under and the writing for this shown is so unique and the character development a treat to watch. Not sure what the plans are for maƱana, except the 8am bridge game, if there are enough registrations.
