Cloudy and cooler

It's weird because this is the second day in a row that Lynn has told us there is heavy rain further south and north of us. This has probably been the cause of the slightly overcast skies all day. What with the reduced humidity it was a lot more comfortable today.

We hung out for a bit after bridge then Dominique went to her 10am chat with Hugo and Lynn about hiring a new administrator. Hugo is retiring some time after the AGM in mid-February. Off to the pool about 3pm and hung out there with Lynn. There are two "kinds" of renters that hang there ... the ones that greet you upon arrival and ones that do not. Naturally the ones that we have spent time in the pool chatting about anything and everything, always have a nod and hello when we arrive. Unless someone we do not recognize appears to have no interest in a hello, we greet everyone when we go down.

This is a board meeting week for us ... she tomorrow at 6:30pm and I Wednesday at noon. This is the first board meeting we have had from our Ottawa condo building since there was a members' meeting to present the 2024 budget. Our wonderful property mnager Kim fielded all the questions and the board members in attendance were pretty much in listen mode.

Leftovers for dinner tonight. Yippee ... I ran into a site that I had discovered a few years ago ... Lingua.com. The area of my Spanish learning that needs the most attention is comprehension/listening to native speakers. There are three levels of short text pieces of their web site, each followed by a series of questions on the details of the text that has just been read. The site also has what appears to be a unique engine which I will devour as time permits. One listens to a bot speaking Spanish and writes down, in a form on the site itself, what one thinks was just heard. Then the site gives one feedback on the correctness of what we think we heard.

Ooh what a lucky man

As so eloquently put by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer in their 1970s song. I have been lucky so many times in my 74+ years on this planet. Oh my ... how time flies. It seems like only yesterday that it was Wednesday. The place looks like someone is leaving in a few days. The mattress in bedroom #2 has been tood up with the mattress cover side pointing out. The first two kitchen chairs are parked on the cement couch in the L/R. Dominique will ask Paty to drop in after the bridge game Saturday so we can discuss the idiosyncrasies of looking after our place until our return. Doing the extended walk to the end of the canal path past Soris. We will pick up some shredded pork to make sandwiches for the flight(s) on Sunday. We are so close to the end of the line as far as getting the place ready. Other than the Fire TV sticks, the balance of the work involves moving stuff around and covering furniture.
