The beat goes on

Dominique has a meeting with Lynn at 11am. Our condo admin Hugo is retiring in the new year and the wheels are in motion to find his replacement. The biggest characteristic of a admin person is trustworthy. Whether it's in Canada or anywhere else, the access that person has to units and more mandates this being at the top of the skillset for a position such as this. Hugo has been here since the start in 2017, having a torrid background working in hotels before coming on board.

They have an interview with a candidate this afternoon at 2pm or 4pm. One of the crucial participants has not yet rung in with his availability this afternoon. The 11am meeting is to jam on the questions that they need to ask this person, gaining suitability from his responses. Hugo is full time here but his replacement will more than likely be half time.

I have two more weeks of running all our bridge games until Colin's return on December 11. He will be back in the saddle running the Friday game on December 15. It has been a long haul covering for Colin since the middle of October. Naturally he is happy to cover for me when necessary so we have a nice arrangement between us. It will be nice to have my Mondays and Fridays back to ourselves to do stuff in the casa and around town.

Depending on the time of the possible meeting today, we think we can fit in that trip to Intercam bank in Ixtapa to update my account information with my CURP. Whenever we go there we ask the cab driver to drop us at SeƱor Frog, an eatery in a plaza close to the bank. This is all part of being smart by not "publicizing where our true destination.

Some complaining during the bridge game today when a player believes an opponent is doing something not kosher during the play. So many times these complaints are unfounded and, even better, the accuser becomes the target of an identical complaint in a subsequent round. The root of the most frequent complaint is slow play. There is a clock that runs during the game and when the counter gets to zero, the system moves on to the next round. Bridge online is made up of timed rounds and players have a certain amount of time for each round.

Her meetings at 11am then 2pm went well. She was trying to find Hugo earlier and discovered he was at home. He told her the City was doing some work on a lot adjacent to his. When this sort of work is being carried out, homeowners whose dwellings are adjacent to where the work is being performed are wise to stick around while the work is carried out. That is why he was home for a few hours during the workday.

I cancelled my Amazon credit card as a suspicious payment has been coming out for a while. My call to the credit card company was painful, as usual. It's the recurring theme with this stupid internOt. When I first used the card many years ago, I was asked to create a PIN to quickly identify myself and not have to give any other secure information when calling their (supposed) help desk. So this PIN was useless during this last call, as the agent asked me for:

  1. My full credit card number --> over a cell phone! What planet are these vendors from
  2. My full name
  3. The maiden name of my Mother
  4. The amount of my last payment on the card
Lies, lies, lies, lies and then some more lies. The behaviour of vendors since the ridiculous internOt took over is inexcusable. They never have to face-to-face any clients so they can treat us like mushrooms ... keep us in the dark and feed us s__t.
