The Beat Goes On

If my memory serves me well, this was the title of a Sonny and Cher song (in the 60s maybe?). The 21st century remake of that ditty will be entitled The BS Goes On and it will be about the internOt. I enrolled in a new money transfer site to send mullah to my account in Mexico. I was under the impression the transfer, based on what I read, would take simply a few hours. The money was taken from my account early this morning and some 12 hours later ... no transfer. So I cancelled the transfer and was told the money would be deposited back to my account. The email also told me if they have any problem, they will email me and let me know what to do next.

Fact ... once I clicked a button on my bank's website to confirm my wish to have this firm pull the money from my account ... boom ... money gone in a split second.

This reminds me of so many times a vendor has no problem dragging money out of my account, say for a pre-authorized payment, but when for some reason it's my turn to get some $$ back from them ... I think you know what's coming next ...

We rose in time for an 8am bridge game. Shortly after it ended, we headed down to centro to get some veggies and hopefully bread. Armed with the required veggies, we stopped at Doña Licha for lunch. Dominique went next door to the Jaguar Negro bakery to order some sourdough bread and, lo and behold, returned with two in hand. It was nice for a change that they had some ready to go rather than one having to order, prepay, and pick up two days later.

We have bought bread there many times and at first they sliced it by hand but now they have a machine to do it. That machine is incapable of penetrating the hard crust at the bottom which the client has the pleasure of finishing off before the bread can be stored/eaten. Reminds me of 95% of the pizza places (eat in or take out) where they are unable to manage to actually finish the CUT between each piece and we have to finish it for them.

As per my chat with Eddy Machete last week, what is keeping me back from learning how to solo/improvise is my knowledge of the fretboard. I need to know it inside-out, up-down. side-ways, basack-wards. I am making some progress on that and am about 40% of the way there. I know the process is 3-phase, at least for me:

  1. Memorize
  2. Internalize
  3. Finish turning #1 into my psyche ...
