'Twas the day before
My girl went down to the church at Plaza Kioto for the morning service. I watched an EPL game between the Wolves and Chelsea. It was fun as always, and ended up 2-1 for the home team. I walked down to centro and grabbed a table at Doña Licha and she showed up a bit later.
We are back home and have started the prep for tonight's feast on ribs in the crock pot. I may watch more sports this afternoon. We will use the big crock pot for the ribs and the little one for the potatoes. I looked for the original Christmas Carol movie on our TV streams but could not find. We get a kick out of that version, especially the 1938s' version special affects.
We called Jordan today and were treated to a triple treat (threat?) as Matt Hall and Nathan were with him so we spoke to all of them. Nathan gave us an update on the house, mentioning he had installed some IKEA kitchen cupboards and they were surprisingly easy to assemble. Kia was not with him as she is home and not feeling well. I asked him to please let us know when he speaks to her so we can give her a call too. They are going to Naomi/Pascal's place tonight for dinner and then their Mother's tomorrow.
We have a call today at 7pm with the Robillard clan and a special treat will be her sister Angela. We believe most of the whole clan and then some will be on this call ... brothers David and Michael as well as Angela. Their assorted partners we expect as well.
Doña Licha was quite busy today but not like we remember past years where there was a lineup down the block almost to the next cross street. There were extra servers and bus boys on duty in anticipation of the inevitable crowds. We stopped (or tried to) at the Italian bakery to get some carrot cake ... how dare they! Closed already for Christmas. My Xmas treat, similar to the one I have every day, is my Dominique. If one does not like the pot she is using today, one's response should be "that's a crock!" We get extra duty from the small crock pot when doing potatoes as it does not heat up the condo as when we use the oven. I don't think we have used it since we got here. We are on day 76 of 189 in Zihua and as excited to be here as we were on day one.
Madera beach is not very busy (yet?) today especially for the volume we are used to seeing on the weekend where Xmas falls. The mayor has instructed the busses to park near the bus depot rather than down the small hill near the bomberos. That location will soon be under construction for a rival to Sorianas, being put up by a company whose identity we do not know yet.
The ribs she made for dinner were deluxe. The Nicosia salad was also spectacular. It was a crock pot extravaganza, thereby foregoing the heating up of the kitchen had we been using the oven. We are getting ready for the Robillard love-in Xmas call in 10 minutes. We may watch a Denzel Washington movie later called Déja Vu. I remember having déja vu and amnesia once together ... I was pretty sure I had forgotten all this before.
