Cloudy Sunday

We had plans to eat breakfast here then head down to the market for some veggies. That got derailed pretty soon after we rose. I had taken some bacon out of the freezer, but could not see myself cooking. She decided we would walk to Adelitas Café then cab it to Sam's Club. I had green and she had red enchiladas.

Just after our food arrived, a grey haired women passed by our table, turning out to be Eddy Machete's wife. A number of years ago, Dominique took some guitar lessons from Eddy and, since then, he has aged a lot, but is still Eddy. Just after we arrived at Adelitas, Dominique asked the server  to move a fan that was blowing on us. She said, amongst other things, that when a fan this strong blows wind with such force, it cools her food off. So when this lady said hello, she headed over to their tabel and visited for 6-8 minutes. Guess what the temperature of her breakfast was when she returned to the table.

She mentioned having spoken to Eddy about me, so when I was done I headed over their, introduced myself, and sat at their table chatting until Dominique came over when it was time to leave. We chatted about a lot of stuff, especially music. He agreed with me that the first hurdle one needs to surpass when leaning how to improvise on the guitar is the fretboard. I see so many lead guitar players effortlessly move all over the neck while soloing, never (or close to that) hitting a bad note.

The trip to Sam's was just that and we were there about an hour. The lineup at the cashes that were open was not too bad. When we returned to the house, the cab driver was very helpful moving the stuff into the building so she gave him 100 pesos for what would usually be a 70 peso fare.

We prepped for dinner and went to the pool about 3pm. We met some people who are renting unit B7 from New Mexico, Idaho, and Montana. I gave them my USA trivia test and they got 75%, a respectable result considering some of the 0s I have given out since I created the test. Here are the questions:

  1. Geographically, what is the biggest state
  2. What is the most easterly state?
  3. What is the least populated state?
  4. When the two letter state identifiers were given out, why did Michigan get MI when a few others (Mississipi and Missouri) could also claim/want those two letters?
  5. The question I forgot was what is the most southerly state?

The video on demand portion of one of the streaming service we use was down for about 24 hours. We still watched something on the service that was still working, enjoying Crocodile Dundee II. Dinner was as expected and I sure did not mind desert ... carrot cake from the Italian bakery.

As so eloquently put by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer in their 1970s song. I have been lucky so many times in my 74+ years on this planet. Melt the seal ... time is here

Oh my ... how time flies. It seems like only yesterday that it was Wednesday. The place looks like someone is leaving in a few days. The mattress in bedroom #2 has been tood up with the mattress cover side pointing out. The first two kitchen chairs are parked on the cement couch in the L/R. Dominique will ask Paty to drop in after the bridge game Saturday so we can discuss the idiosyncrasies of looking after our place until our return. Doing the extended walk to the end of the canal path past Soris. We will pick up some shredded pork to make sandwiches for the flight(s) on Sunday. We are so close to the end of the line as far as getting the place ready. Other than the Fire TV sticks, the balance of the work involves moving stuff around and covering furniture.
