Quite the tale of a tail

Bridge game at 8am and no plans, that Iam aware of, until dinner on the beach about 5:30 I think. We are dining with Patsy and Bernie as well as Marianna and a friend. Dinner at Arruyan last night was good, but not great. They were advertising a special of Mahi Mahi or a lobster tail. I ordered the lobster special and, for the second time this visit, neglected to ask how much. Had we asked, and been told 1,300 pesos, I would have ordered something else. The server was very lackadaisical, not really interested in the client and his demeanour was odd.

The three dishes arrived for the gang then mine a bit later. When he delivered their meals, he mentioned mine would be over in a few minutes, reminding me it was quite big. That was an understatement ... it was the size of a small loaf of bread. I did enjoy it, however we felt screwed when the bill arrived. We had expected the standard-size tail with the customary amount of meat therein and were all shocked when it did arrive. The lobster tail dwarfed the rice and guac that came with it, making both portions look like the size of a marble.

When we all finished I asked to see the bill before we ordered any dessert. 1,300 pesos is around $100 CAD, not a paltry sum, but its magnitude was amplified by our not being told before we ordered. We scraped together the necessary mullah and walked home. We are done with Arruyan as we felt ripped off. Not for the amount, but with no forewarning of the associated cost. Dominique and her harems have been regular customers of this establishment, but no more.
