Our sixth year

I like the part where we look at the calendar years Dominique and I have known each other ... 2024 2023 2022 2021 2020 2019. This is an absolute result. We usually look at displacement such that 2019 to 2024 is only five years. In my high tech background the difference between displacement and relative difference between numbers was strategic.

The best riddle to illustrate this phenomenon is asking the question ... given that the upcoming Superbowl is labelled LVIII (58), when was the first? Most of us do the math ... 2024 - 58 = 1966. One would then think they started in 1966, when in fact it was 1967. The relative approach does not take into account the year started from while doing the subtraction. If 1966 were the start year, then this would be Superbowl LVIX (59). I am not sure if my terminology is correct, but what I am trying to glean from this diatribe is right on. Whether it is indeed correct, the absolute result includes the year 2024 whereas the relative approach does not.

Off to Ixtapa first thing today then we are going to Sam's Club. She has a massage scheduled for 2pm during which time I will go to the amp store on Benito Juarez to discover what they have in stock as compared to what they have on display. Should be an interesting voyage.

Work at Ixtapa completed without a hitch. We paid our fee for owning land by the water and we withdrew some money. Sam's was the usual and they ahd enough cash registers open to clear the backlog. We solved an emergency with green olives and bought three jars. Dominique has settled down from the absence of these green and red treats.

As soon as we got home and had a large portion of the crap put away, I headed to centro to see what the store had in stock as planned. I picked out two units and one of the staff found nothing in stock of the first but 12 of the second. Now that problem solved. I headed to the electronic store and picke dout a Shure mic and a stand. I walked home carrying the two. I set it up when I got back and all looks great.

We got a few deliveries from Amazon today. One of the boxes had a stamp on it bragging how they used ½ the amount of cardboard this time. When I opened the box, it was obvious that it was much bigger than required based on its contents. What a bunch of crap and we are very impressed Amazon with your consideration of the environment.

Ranae is down for happy month with Dominique. We were orphans for a few days as some of their real friends were staying with them. I told Ranae that when family and/or friends are staying with us, that we will still acknowledge their existence (unlike some other people).

We are off to Bergados for pizza, whose open/closed staus is an anomaly as I am about to tell you. We had plans to go there last spring with Bernie and Patsy. We started walking down the hill to meet for dinner and discovered the rooftop pizza joint closed permanently. We asked at the office and the status was confirmed. Based on my understanding of the way it works in some places, I check its status the next day. I think you know what's coming next ... open.

After bridge in the morning, we are going to head down to the amp store on the main drag. I will take the mic, my electric guitar, and a patch cord. I am allowed to try out the unit before buying. I prepared the details of the first set for next Thursday. Should be a hoot and I hope I can pull it off.
