Just a matter of time?

Is my opinion that one of the fools "leading a country" who is an aggressor or recipient of aggression, will do the unthinkable some time in the future. The unthinkable you say?

This act will be the crowning end of some unfortunate turn of events by a megalomaniac running one of these countries. I believe this will end the existence of the human race once and for all. Mass extinctions have happened in the past, but none caused directly by d__k-wagging like this one. When this will happen is the big question and hopefully when it does, it will be quick. The fallout will make the world uninhabitable for 25,000+ years. What do I know to make such a bold statement? Not much, just a feeling. While the same country that preaches stopping a war while it bombs other countries at the same time ... the crux of this doomsday belief of mine. The Doomsday Clock is now at 90 seconds and counting.

Pulled from here ...

More than 75 years ago, the clock started ticking at seven minutes to midnight. At 17 minutes to midnight, the clock was furthest from doomsday in 1991, as the Cold War ended and the United States and Soviet Union signed the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty that substantially reduced both countries' nuclear weapons arsenals.

Why such negativity? We have got so focused on the wrong things in the modern day world that the d__k-wagging is now all about who has the biggest stash of cash and the most natural resources to deplete the planet of what is needed to sustain life.

Society feeds this nonsense and the biggest offender, in my opinion is the media as well as the idiots that run our countries. It is not important what an entertainer wears to the Grammys. It is not important that a convicted serial killer is asking for parole again. It is not appropriate to use euphemisms in the media like honour killing or suicide bomber. But that's what we have been listening to from the media giants for decades (if not centuries) ... symptomatic of what the modern world has turned into.

Dominique cancelled the meeting with the ladies after the game to go to the Eco Tango market near the museum then the famous Cafécito for a java. Our dinner at Miramar last night was great. The ambience was as expected, their being right above the beach path. We all have some form of their BBQ offerings and naturally the liquid components were intoxicating. The margaritas got then official Lynn Rahn seal of approval. If and when Bernie chimes in on their version of this popular beverage, the certification will be complete.

Seven days away from the RKK AGM. The fringe of owners who go about complaining and accusing our two boards of mishandling and mismanagement of the funds of RKK are outnumbered 8-5. Leo will be chairing the meeting and Dominique is confident he will be able to deal with any outbreaks of yelling and use of 4-letter words that these fools like to initiate.

I have asked Colin to cover my games next weekend as Michael and Gail are here. Considering they are only here for a week, I want to free up as much time as possible.

The trip of which I mentioned in an earlier post now looks like just Calgary and Saskatoon. Since we need to get to Saskatoon through Calgary, we thought it would be better to do Calgary first. We might try YOW - YYC return and as well YYC - YXE return then we may be able to use our companion voucher. Something like ...⇄

  1. June 20 - Ottawa to Calgary
  2. June 25 - Calgary to Saskatoon
  3. June 29 - Saskatoon to Calgary
  4. June 29 - Calgary to Ottawa
So YYC ⇄ YOW is outbound June 20 and inbound June 29. As well, YYC ⇄ YXE is outbound June 25 and inbound June 29. We just have to make sure we can get to Calgary on June 29 at a time such that we have a few hours until the flight to Ottawa departs, thereby leaving a cushion in case the flight from Saskatoon back to Calgary is late.

When I test drove the above mentioned plan, a screen appeared asking me if I wanted to use our companion voucher. So that is obviously the key to using this ... cannot be any itinerary other than a return trip somewhere.

We are planning to go to centro and make three stops ...

  • Paper store to photocopy a legal sized document for Intercam bank
  • Mercado for veggies
  • Clothing store for me to buy shorts as three of what I have have no pockets and I do not like using a belly pack
We will go to the same store we did a while back when we bought the t-shirt for Hugo that says HUGO BOSS on it. The main area where there have been large price increases since last time we were here is eating out. In some cases we were spending something like 250 pesos for a breakfast for the two of us and now it could be as high as 365 [or more], a 46% increase. A definite deterrent to eating out while here.

I managed to get my girlie out of the house for some errands earlier than some other days. The earlier, the better due to the increasing heat as the afternoon wears on. Our first stop was the paper/office store as planned. We then got stuff at the market before heading to the mens' clothing store. I bought three pairs of shorts for 290 pesos each so the bill came in at 870 pesos or about $68 CAD. Ranae was down for a chat with Dominique and they both approved of the price and quality of the merchandise. They look like good quality and something that would sell at home maybe at Sportchek for $$69.99 each.

I noticed something online that ACBL (the competitive bridge governing body in North America) had posted some time ago and caught an error. I sent a note to my contact there and Lynn's response was mostly Yikes! I emailed her back, stating there were two outstanding questions, as follows:

  1. What would she do without me?
  2. What would she do without me?
We took out some chicken thighs for dinner. There are five to a package. The last time we did this, I had two and Dominique one. Then by the time we were done dinner, the extra two thighs somehow disappeared. I ate no more than my two and she her share. I guess the extras were eaten by Not Me, of Family Circus fame?

Reminds me of something Bill Cosby discussed during one of his routines, He explained that he and his brother would get in trouble with their Dad. Dad would say Jesus Christ - G-d dammit when the two of them did something wrong. One of the boys' retort was Dad, you got it wrong again ... he's G-d dammit and I'm Jesus Christ!

Dominique is working away getting the second B/R ready for our guests this Tuesday. I did the better part of my piece early yesterday moving my amplifier and other gig paraphernalia downstairs into our storage unit.

We reminded ourselves last Wednesday about February 7 2019, a mere five years ago. That was the day I was surfing profiles on the Zoosk dating site, and a lady named Domi caught my eye and interest. There were a few things about her profile that were attractive:

We started chatting with each other that day or maybe a few days later. This went on, sometimes at a feverish pace until she (yes she) decided enough was enough and gave me her number so we could speak rather than just chat. A mere three or so weeks later we met in person upon her return to Ottawa. I met here at her place and when she saw me through the glass doors to her building, she let out a sigh of relief (as did I) since we both were EXACTLY what the other expected based on our Zoosk profiles.

Bogart's classic line from Casablanca I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship is an understatement of where our relationship has gone. We both still provide a vast amount of entertainment for one another which, in my opinion, is one of the biggest contributors to the staying power in relationships.

We heard something from Ranae that happened when she was at Cafécito with friend Carol today. There was a guy playing guitar and a pan flute. His right wrist was attached to a cord and the other end of that cord was attached to the arm of a puppet positioned in front of his legs. It looked as though the puppet was playing a miniature guitar. She told us it was a kid-magnet and little ones were enthralled. His tip jar was overflowing and apparently it was beyond cute watching the youngsters placing money in the tip jar. Creative or what!
