We need to book a storage unit for our balcony furniture for a few months. There is a project at our building in Ottawa to refurbish these 26 year-old balconies over the this summer and next. I just had a dialogue with Dymon in Ottawa after filling out a form on the internet. Those idiots ... after filling out the form they ask you to call them to reserve a unit. Didn't I just do that on the internet!! So I called them and during the start of the conversation, asked if I would have to give them a credit card during our discussion. The attendant said YES. Hello hello ... credit card over my cell! Is this the 11th century. These stupid companies are so proud to say they are so concerned about safe transactions and their clients' privacy then a credit card over a cell phone line. Oh ya, I forgot, on the internot it's all about everything BUT the client.

Forgot to post about something so cute that happened at a restaurant Friday evening. There was a couple with two kids maybe 2 and 5. The voice from the little one was intoxicating like the squeals of joy we hear from Madera as the little ones frolic in the surf. I went over and and told them how much we were enjoying the nattering of the baby. While I was there, the little girl tapped me on the arm as if to say I am here too and would be pleased with some attention too! How cute. After they finished their meal, as they were leaving, the Mother waved to our table and  I did not see this. Roger or Dominique told me what was going on and I turned around to see a full-face grin from Momma and a hearty wave goodbye. Did I mention how cute this encounter was?

This just in ... talk about attached at the hip. When Ranae was down for happy month yesterday, she and Dominique, with no discussion, happened to be wearing the same dress ... a take off on Mutt and Jeff ➢ Melinda and Josephine. One of Ranae's daughters bought these shifts for them a few years ago ...


We are heading out to GuitarFest with Lynn and Ranae for the 8-11pm show. We will leave here about 6:45 to avoid the crunch that we saw at opening night. We got there Saturday about 5:10 and beat the rush.

Ooh what a lucky man

As so eloquently put by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer in their 1970s song. I have been lucky so many times in my 74+ years on this planet. Some of the highlights ... the experience having four offspring and, to date, four grandchildren being in the right place at the right time, being Miami Beach in September 1990 for an Oracle user group conference that ended up sparking a torrid career in high tech discovery of high grade dysplasia, a precancerous diagnosis during a routine scope in 2013 that was arrested by a right hemicolectomy participating in the Canadian government's retraining program in 1983-84 that allowed me to take the four semester course at Algonquin College that kickstarted my ventures into high tech getting to know some folks from the Boston area that catapulted me into the Oracle Press publishing initiative with McGraw-Hill that led to the sale of hundreds of thousands of our/my books over a 15-year period having first-hand experiences in poor east Africa that put into...

Melt the seal ... time is here

Oh my ... how time flies. It seems like only yesterday that it was Wednesday. The place looks like someone is leaving in a few days. The mattress in bedroom #2 has been tood up with the mattress cover side pointing out. The first two kitchen chairs are parked on the cement couch in the L/R. Dominique will ask Paty to drop in after the bridge game Saturday so we can discuss the idiosyncrasies of looking after our place until our return. Doing the extended walk to the end of the canal path past Soris. We will pick up some shredded pork to make sandwiches for the flight(s) on Sunday. We are so close to the end of the line as far as getting the place ready. Other than the Fire TV sticks, the balance of the work involves moving stuff around and covering furniture. These will happen as late as possible on Saturday evening. Chicken for dinner tonight then the last two nights we will eat out.
