Meeting of the minds

My delicious chica left about 11:30 for the get together to discuss strategy and schedule for the AGM on Friday March 15. I spent some time this morning watching Casa de Las Flores on Netflix. It is a highly recommended telenovelas on Neflix for intermediate and learners of Spanish.

Acabo de dado me cuenta que necesito aprender mas vocabulario que usamos diariamente. Todavia tengo problemas comprender los nativos cuando hablan muy rápido. Por ejemplo, puedo comprender un taxista que habla más despacio que muchas otras gentes, sino me faltan el significado de muchas palabras. Para comprender totalmente los hispanohablantes, debo estar ciudado cuando respondo. Podria me pareco comon un idioto si el que me habla significadó algo otro. Especialmento cuando alguien quiere jugarme un truco. Casi todas las personas con quien hablo espańol estan muy amable, pero tal vez no los todos. Pienso que comprenda lo que digo.

Eso es por que debo estudiar vocabulario. ¡No quiero parecer un loco! Por este razón, voy a hacer unas cosas:

  • Mirar La Casa de las Flores mucho
  • Escribir entonces estudiar el vocabulario en esos episodios
  • Escuchar a otras personas habar español cada dia tan a menudo como posible
  • Escribir más español en mi blog
  • Hablar más español con mi querida a todos los sitios
Ojalá que este plan me ayuda con más comprensión en menos tiempo. Me creo que utilizadó DeepL más de lo que lo he utilizado por muchas semanas. Si DeepL pueda ayudarme con el experience de saber más vocabulario, no es un problema. En el pasado, he probado no utilizar DeepL pero ahor ha cambiado. Durante las proximas unas semana, ¡veremos!

I just realized that I need to learn more vocabulary that we use on a daily basis. I still have trouble understanding native speakers when they speak too fast. For example, I can understand a cab driver who speaks slower than many other people, but I miss the meaning of many words. To fully understand Spanish speakers, I must be careful when I respond. I might look like an idiot if the one speaking to me meant something else. Especially when someone wants to play a trick on me. Almost all the people I speak Spanish with are very friendly, but maybe not all of them. I think you understand what I say.

That’s why I must study vocabulary. I don’t want to look crazy! For this reason, I will do a few things:

  • Watch The House of Flowers a lot
  • Write then study the vocabulary in those episodes
  • Listen to other people speak Spanish every day as often as possible
  • Write more Spanish on my blog
  • Speak more Spanish with my darling everywhere

Hopefully this plan will help me with more understanding in less time. I believe that I have used DeepL more than I have used it for many weeks. If DeepL can help me with the experience of knowing more vocabulary, it’s not a problem. In the past, I’ve tried not to use DeepL but now it’s changed. Over the next few weeks, we’ll see!

Ooh what a lucky man

As so eloquently put by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer in their 1970s song. I have been lucky so many times in my 74+ years on this planet. Some of the highlights ... the experience having four offspring and, to date, four grandchildren being in the right place at the right time, being Miami Beach in September 1990 for an Oracle user group conference that ended up sparking a torrid career in high tech discovery of high grade dysplasia, a precancerous diagnosis during a routine scope in 2013 that was arrested by a right hemicolectomy participating in the Canadian government's retraining program in 1983-84 that allowed me to take the four semester course at Algonquin College that kickstarted my ventures into high tech getting to know some folks from the Boston area that catapulted me into the Oracle Press publishing initiative with McGraw-Hill that led to the sale of hundreds of thousands of our/my books over a 15-year period having first-hand experiences in poor east Africa that put into...

Melt the seal ... time is here

Oh my ... how time flies. It seems like only yesterday that it was Wednesday. The place looks like someone is leaving in a few days. The mattress in bedroom #2 has been tood up with the mattress cover side pointing out. The first two kitchen chairs are parked on the cement couch in the L/R. Dominique will ask Paty to drop in after the bridge game Saturday so we can discuss the idiosyncrasies of looking after our place until our return. Doing the extended walk to the end of the canal path past Soris. We will pick up some shredded pork to make sandwiches for the flight(s) on Sunday. We are so close to the end of the line as far as getting the place ready. Other than the Fire TV sticks, the balance of the work involves moving stuff around and covering furniture. These will happen as late as possible on Saturday evening. Chicken for dinner tonight then the last two nights we will eat out.
