Round 2
Dominique is going to the bank at noon with Patricia. She did not actually go yesterday but spent some time assembling stuff for Patricia. We sent a photo of her passport address page as well as both sides of her permanent residency card. She was informed that she may need a tax number, called an SAT in this country, to be able to open a second bank account and for when she sells this place sometime in the future. She spoke to Andy Smith, a local real estate agent, who confirmed this is needed when she sells.
I am going to spend some time today going through some of my crap and decide what stays here, what goes back home with me, and what gets pitched. As far as clothes go ... very little goes back and forth ... one of the advantages of owning a place. In the midst of doing this it should be interesting to discover things that I have not touched at all this year and therefore are candidates for discarding.
I spoke to Rogers today and arranged to have the internet turned back on. The chat was quick to connect to once I was transferred from the BOT to a real person. I asked Patsy to reboot the modem for us when she is next over. She was not sure if she knew how but said she would contact me the next time she is there and instruct her what to do. I ended up crafting soime instructions, with pictures of the three cables that enter the back of the modem. I pointed out the differences between the three, especially the endings that are inserted into the modem. VoliĆ ... mission accomplished. She is, at heart after all, a techie.
We took out pasta for dinner but I suggested we go to El Duke for fish and chips. This will be our third trip there this winter, well worth and more every visit. We both did some "cleanup" on our stuff, mostly things we have not touched or needed for the duration of this stay and more. The crowd on the beach has thinned out a bit and will probably persist throughout the second week of the kiddies' being off school.
Modem rebooted by the high-tech expert standin - Patsy. Dominique's trip to the bank was successful. She got a new access card, replacing one that was expiring shortly. All her paperwork appeared to be in order for her to open a second account at Intercam. She is expected to receive the access card for that by Friday. The humdidity is back but, as we know, nothing like it will be by the middle of May as the rain starts. We will be off shortly for an expedition in the back roads of the town the other side of calle Adelita. This is a developing part of Zihua with the mayor and his people looking to improve the look of the area and thereby attract more middle-class homeowners and developers of such. Improving the looks of many areas in Zihua has been a steady goal of this administration.
